Singer / Songwriter Kelly Montijo Fink wins Native American Music Award!

Kelly Montijo Fink of Hiawatha, IA has won the “NAMMY” (Native American Music Award) for Best Compilation Album at the 15 Annual Native American Music Awards held on Friday, November 14th at the Seneca Allegany Events Center in New York

Her album entitled “Don’t Let Me Forget” contains a variety of genres such as pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, rap, industrial-traditional, and Celtic styling.   The album also features other local artists Josh Misener, Sean Murphy, Shane Lunsford, & Chris Stanton. Kelly is of Apache, Mexican, & Spanish heritage.

The Native American Music Awards was founded in 1998 by President / CEO Ellen Bello and is the music industry’s only national organization for the advancement & recognition of Native American musical expressions.

The New York Times has said, “NAMA is devoted to bringing indigenous music to the world’s consciousness”.

The 15th annual awards show will be broadcast on FNX-TV on some PBS stations across the nation on Thanksgiving Day.

November is nationally known as Native American Heritage month.
